Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. is a full-length demo album by Slipknot. Released on October 31, 1996, the album was limited to production of 1,000 copies. The band originally self-distributed copies but went on to release remaining units through -ismist Recordings in 1997. Due to its limited release the album has become much sought by fans since Slipknot's rise in popularity.

The band considers Mate. Feed. Kill. Repeat. to be a demo and have evolved and released the majority of the songs on future releases. It was recorded in Des Moines, Iowa, over a period of seven months. The music of the album contains many influences including funk, jazz, and disco which weren't as apparent in later material. Many of the lyrics and the album's title are derived from the game Werewolf: The Apocalypse. The songs contain an "emphasis on non-traditional songwriting" and melodic themes more than subsequent releases.

Selected biography

Nathan Jonas "Joey" Jordison (born April 26, 1975) is an American musician, songwriter, and record producer. He is a co-founder and the primary drummer for the Grammy Award winning band Slipknot and the guitarist for the horror punk band Murderdolls.

While growing up in Des Moines, Iowa, Jordison quickly developed an interest in music; learning to play the guitar and drums. Jordison joined multiple bands throughout his high school years, which lead to him being invited to join The Pale Ones, at age 20. Jordison immediately embraced the idea and quickly became involved in all aspects of the band, which evolved into Slipknot. Jordison's dedication to music has led to performances and work with many other bands over his career, including Metallica, Korn, Ministry, Satyricon, OTEP, Marilyn Manson, and 3 Inches of Blood.
